Hey everybody,
Thought I would start a section on swimming holes. The following website is great, http://www.swimmingholes.org/ , select a state and it gives you directions to a lot of hikes with swimming holes. If anybody has any good local holes they frequent, shoot a note in the comments. I recommend st. mary's.

Dodgeball Challenge....

So, I guess we've been challenged to play in the SAEM Dodgeball tournament in Washington DC this May-- while we know we can dodge and hit with the best, a great team begins with a great name. My suggestions?
Balls of Fury
Ca-ball-eirs
Gubernaculum (or -lae)
So, if you don't want a team named "A" or "B" like an unloved twin, send us some suggestions soon. (Use the comments button below.)

Shine your balls!
It is resident-appreciation bowling time tomorrow!! I wish I could be there to show you my "turkey", but alas, my brood at home needs more attention. Bowl a 300 for me, G.
Residents, I mean it when I say: "We REALLY appreciate you. Thanks for taking such great care of our patients (aww)."

I especially liked the video showing how to use u/s for fracture management
Don't challenge the Plautz
As great as it is to win the coffee card, all that money will go towards your fraposkinnycapoccinomocha with extra whip cream that I owe you. Let it be known, Dr. Plautz, master of guessing the patient's etoh level!
Congratulations, Seth!
Congratulations to Dr. Althoff for being the first resident to participate on the EM Blog! For this feat, he gets a $20 Higher Grounds gift card (although I don't think he drinks any coffee).
No prizes for 2nd, 3rd or last place.

It is about that time--time to get back on the river. Has anyone ever paddeled the Rivanna between the bridge on 29 and Woollen Mills? My kids like the stretch from Woollen Mills to Shadwell when the flow is about 150-200 cfs.

Third time's the charm.
Okay, this time, we're serious. Residents, this is for you. We'll post residency-related announcements; you post your experiences with past rotations, best places to eat on the corner, comments and suggestions you'd like to pass on to other EM residents.
Use it. Check it everyday. We're listening, and we care (really).
